Treatment to Add Volume to Facial Contours

For your information:

In accordance with industry regulations recently introduced by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) our clinic no longer directly refers to prescription medicines (products) used for the treatment of concerns about the shape or volume of facial features.

For further details on the exact treatments offered by our practice, please contact us on (03) 9826 9988 or book a consultation with one of our Doctors or Nurses.

We can provide consultations and services to fill in furrows around the mouth and add volume to the cheeks, lips, and around the eyes. The desired outcome is to provide enhanced volume, plumpness and definition, especially in ageing skin.

How does this treatment add volume to facial contours?

This treatment works by imitating a naturally occurring substance in the body to fill areas of the face that the patient wants more volume in or areas that have suffered volume loss.

  • Hydrate the skin from within using skin booster technology – hydrate and restore skin without altering shape

Are there any side effects?

Patients generally do not find the treatment too uncomfortable. It is often described as feeling like a series of pin pricks.

Side effects include injection reactions, moderate to severe swelling, herpes simplex (cold sores), lumps and bumps at the injection site. Bruising is also common, which can take several days to subside.

Although uncommon other possible side effects include infection, tissue necrosis, scarring, blindness, stroke, nerve damage and allergic reactions. Our on-site doctor will discuss these risks with you.

How can I prepare for this treatment?

Avoid wearing makeup to appointments where possible.

If you have an active infection or virus or are feeling unwell it is best to call and reschedule your appointment.

Avoid this treatment for 2 weeks either side of dental appointments.

If you are planning your treatment around a long flight, try to have your treatment done 2 weeks prior to flying. It’s ideal to fly once all of the initial swelling has subsided.

If you are prone to cold sores prepare for this as treatment can initiate a cold sore. Treatments cannot be carried out if you have an active cold sore.

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or actively trying to conceive we cannot carry out this treatment.

How long will the results last?

Best results will emerge 2 – 4 weeks after the service is provided. Depending on the area these can then last anywhere between 6 and 18 months.

Can I resume normal activities after the treatment?

Normal activities may be resumed immediately post-treatment. We advise that you avoid strenuous activity and exercise for approximately 6 hours post-treatment. Avoid applying pressure or rubbing the treated area for the remainder of the day of treatment. Facials, eyebrow waxing, eyebrow tattooing/feathering, and massage to the area should be avoided for 1 week.
