Cosmetic surgery restores pre-birth shapes
Now mums take steps to be yum

The number of women going to plastic surgeons to erase evidence of childbirth and become “yummy mummies” is soaring.

Thousands have gone under the knife for a “mummy makeover” since 2006.

The rapidly growing trend follows a similar fad overseas – more than 325,000 women had post-pregnancy surgery in the US last year.

Breast lifts and enhancement and tummy tucks top the wish lists for mothers unhappy with the way pregnancy and breastfeeding has altered their figures.

Caroline Springs mother-of-three Claudia Piacquadio said her cosmetic surgery makeover – an $11,000 breast augmentation – had changed her life.

“When I finished breastfeeding my breasts looked small, empty and like and 80-year-old woman’s,” Ms. Piacquadio, 39, said.

“I didn’t feel very feminine and was suffering ‘boob envy’. I wanted to take off my clothes and feel like a woman again.

“I have now gone from nothing to a C-cup…it was the best money I have spent.

“My relationship with my husband is so much better. I’m confident and I’m a happy mum, a better mum.”

Mrs. Piacquadio’s used Toorak surgeon and breast specialist Chris Moss.

Dr. Moss said more than half his clients last year had been mothers wanting to change their post-natal appearance.

“It’s a scientific fact that the hormones produced during pregnancy and the stretching of the breast and body cause degenerative changes in a woman’s body,” he said.
