Laser Treatments for Healthy, Glowing Skin
Laser treatments rejuvenate your skin in many ways, including firming and smoothing the skin, improving skin tone and texture, treating unsightly veins, shrinking large or blocked pores, fading skin spots and pigmentation, reversing sun damage and removing unwanted hair.
Lasers have allowed many recent advances in non-surgical cosmetic treatments. Laser technology for skin treatments is now highly advanced, safe and effective. Treatments are performed regularly and with high rates of patients satisfaction by our experienced staff at Liberty Belle. We are proud to offer our patients a complete range of state of the art laser technologies, each designed to treat a particular skin problem.
All laser treatments listed are performed as walk-in, walk-out procedures at our luxurious and state of the art facility. There is also ample car parking available on-site.
Our specialist cosmetic doctors and nurses will recommend which particular type of laser treatment is most appropriate to treat your skin concern. Occasionally multiple treatments are required for an optimal result and well priced packages are available. Treatments are most popular on the face but can be done on other parts of the body.
Lasers are non or minimally invasive, with the majority of treatments associated with little or no downtime. Some procedures, such as hair removal, do not have an alternative surgical option. Our lasers usually leave little to no swelling, discoloration or after effect so there are minimal if any tell-tale signs a procedure has recently been performed.
Using light and laser-based treatments we can address many of the visible and hidden signs of ageing or sun damage and many skin blemishes without surgery. Laser treatments are also appropriate for those who are either not yet ready for surgery or who want to turn back the clock a more conservative number of years.
How do lasers work?
In straightforward terms, a laser is a device that amplifies light. It produces a thin, intense beam of light, which is highly focussed on the part of the skin which needs treatment. The light from a laser consists of one or more wavelengths which can be used to target different problems in the skin - from sun damage or excess hair shafts deep in the dermis, to burst blood vessels, and discolourations on the skin surface. Specific combinations of wavelength, power, pulse duration and spot size are selected to target these different areas to produce the desired result.
Below is a brief summary of the types of laser treatments offered at Liberty Belle Skin Centre.
Laser Genesis
Problem: Enlarged pores, poor skin texture and diffuse redness on the face or neck and decolletage.
Candidates: All skin types
Solution: Laser is directed at the upper dermis well below the skin’s surface to gently heat the area, stimulating collagen re-growth and reducing excessive fine capillaries.
Results: Results are subtle and progressive following each of the 4 to 6 recommended treatments. Collagen stimulation produces tighter, younger looking skin reducing pore size and redness.
YAG 1064
Problem: Redness, facial and leg veins.
Candidates: Skin types 1 – 4 (not darkly pigmented people). Must have no direct sun exposure or fake tan applied for 4 weeks prior to treatment.
Solution: Light based treatments target redness, red blood cells within abnormal capillaries and sun damage which are in the skin surface. The light from the machine is absorbed by the abnormal red pigment which results in destruction of these blemishes.
Results: This procedure is ideal for the face, neck and décolletage and usually requires 1 to 3 treatments for a complete result. Although some blemishes may reappear with further sun damage, they too can be treated.
Painless Laser Hair Removal
This system can remove hair from all parts of the body including the face, legs, arms, underarms, back, chest, nipples and bikini line. It’s extremely effective heating and cooling process provides safe and permanent results.
Problem: Hair on any part of the body of women or men, including the face, legs, arms, underarms, back, chest, nipples and bikini line.
Candidates: Patients with light or dark skin who are concerned about unwanted hair.
Solution: Light from the machine targets the pigment in the hair and the light is converted to heat which conducts the heat to the root, destroying the hair follicle. At the same time the system provides integrated cooling to the skin surface to protect it.
Results: Most areas require 3 – 6 treatments, depending on hair thickness, area and your hair’s growth cycle. Since hair grows in cycles, multiple treatments are necessary to ensure all hair follicles at various stages are included.
Titan Laser
Problem: Mild to moderate skin laxity, especially the jowls, along the jawline, under the chin, the abdomen, backs of the arms and inner thighs.
Candidates: Any skin type or age with earlier skin looseness, those who do not want or who are not ready for surgery.
Solution: Safe infra-red light heats the dermis well below the skin’s surface targeting water in this area. This causes immediate collagen contraction and stimulates collagen growth, which in turn produces tighter, younger looking skin. Continuous cooling is provided by the machine during the procedure to protect the top layer of skin.
Results: The result is immediate due to initial collagen tightening. And the natural wound healing process creates new collage producing longer term tightening over 3 – 6 months. One to 3 treatments are recommended for best results.
Pearl Laser
Problem: Aged or sun damaged skin with problems including poor tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, and/or pigmentation
Candidates: Skin types 1 – 3 with moderate to severe wrinkles and sun damage
Solution: Pearl Laser treatment uses a combination of pulses of light to the top layer of the skin and laser heating of the deep dermis to provides long term benefits. Less total patient downtime than fractional treatment with just 3 to 4 days of social downtime. High safety profile.
Results: Treats the full face in a single treatment. Resurfaces the epidermis causing the upper layer to peel off and regenerate a layer of new, healthy skin. Causes skin tightening, reduces signs of aging, and stimulates collagen formation and plumping of the skin. Just 1 - 2 treatments are required (unlike Fraxel treatments which usually require 4 to 6 treatments).
IPL
Problem: Redness, mottled complexions, brown spots and freckles and sun damage.
Candidates: Skin types 1 – 4, but patients should not be treated if they have had significant sun exposure (sun, solarium) or fake tan in the 4 weeks prior to treatment.
Solution: The selective and specific heating of the pigmented cells causes the therapeutic effect. Offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with ageing and sun damage.
Results: Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and skin may appear slightly red and mildly swollen. This resolves over the next hours and makeup can be applied to cover the redness. Within one to three weeks the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Any diffuse redness will decrease and your complexion will improve. New spots and redness may appear with new sun damage, but these too can be treated. 1 to 3 treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be necessary for very large or dark spots, densely freckled areas or excessively sun-damaged skin.
How long will it take?
Each session can take from 10 to 40 minutes depending on the area treated.
How many treatments are needed?
Although a single treatment can produce very good results, a number of treatments spaced several weeks apart are usually recommended to produce a more dramatic improvement. The number of treatments necessary varies according to the particular concern, the level of sun damage and the type of laser treatment. This is particularly so when treating veins, coloured spots and to optimise skin tone and texture.
Are there any side effects?
The side effects are minimal and vary according to the treatment. Some redness and swelling are expected for a few hours with the shorter more frequent treatments. With more powerful treatments, there may also be some flaking and peeling similar to sunburn which resolves over a few days.
Is it safe?
The laser light penetrates only to a maximum of one millimetre beneath the skin surface, so it cannot damage the other organs of the body. The exception is the eye, which can readily be injured; hence special goggles or eye shields are used whenever the laser is in operation.
The laser does not produce any rays known to be harmful, eg X-rays, UV rays, gamma rays etc. There is no reason to expect any risk of developing skin cancer in lasered areas many years later.
