Laser skin rejuvenation at our Melbourne skin centre can rejuvenate, firm and smooth the skin as well as remove surface blemishes. The skin laser treatments we offer are scientifically proven to be effective at treating skin concerns by reducing wrinkles and lines, improving skin tone and texture, treating unsightly surface veins, shrinking large or blocked pores, fading skin spots and pigmentation, reversing sun damage and removing unwanted hair.
Advances in laser technology allow us to now treat appropriate cosmetic skin conditions with non-surgical, non-invasive means. In our clinic we only use state-of-the-art laser technology of the highest quality for the most effective and safe skin treatments. We perform both laser treatments and IPL in Melbourne at Liberty Belle Skin Centre — achieving high rates of patient satisfaction by our experienced clinicians. Please note that Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, although not exactly a laser, is often classed in the “laser therapy” category. We are proud to offer our patients a complete range of laser options, each specifically designed to treat particular skin problems.
Our state-of-the-art cosmetic lasers have been selected for being highly effective yet minimally invasive, so the majority of treatments are associated with little or no downtime. Some procedures, such as laser hair removal, do not have an alternative surgical option, while others such as laser skin tightening and vein removal are, in appropriate people, an effective alternative to a surgical procedure. If surgery is best or more appropriate for you we can also provide you with accurate and unbiased information on this option. Our lasers usually leave little to no swelling, discolouration or after-effect, so there are minimal if any tell-tale signs a procedure has recently been performed.
Using IPL light and laser-based treatments we can address the vast majority of the visible surface signs of skin ageing or sun damage without any surgery. Laser treatments are also appropriate for those who are either not yet ready for surgery or who want to turn back the clock a more conservative number of years. Each session can take from 10 to 40 minutes depending on the area treated. Most laser treatments listed are performed as walk-in, walk-out procedures at our beautifully appointed and modern facility. There is ample car parking available on-site.

Dr Moss and his team of specialist clinicians will recommend which particular type of laser treatment is most appropriate to treat your skin concern. Occasionally, multiple treatments are required for an optimal result and well priced packages are available. Treatments are most popular on the face and neck but can be performed on other parts of the body.
- Pigmentation — sun damage and hormonal
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Broken capillaries
- Diffuse redness and rosacea
- Ageing, sun damaged skin on the face and neck
- Sun damaged Hands
- Arm sun spots
- Decolletage
Problem: Enlarged pores, poor skin texture and diffuse redness on the face, neck or decolletage.
Candidates: All skin types.
Solution: Laser is directed at the upper dermis well below the skin’s surface to gently heat the area, stimulating collagen formation and reducing excessive fine capillaries.
Results: Results are subtle and progressive following each of the 4 — 6 recommended treatments. Collagen stimulation produces tighter skin with reduced pore size and redness.
Problem: Aged or sun damaged skin with problems including poor tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, and/or pigmentation.
Candidates: Fair to olive skin types with moderate to severe wrinkles and sun damage.
Solution: Pearl Laser treatments can be performed using a combination of pulses of light to resurface the top layer of the skin, plus Fractional laser treatment of the deep dermis to provide long-term reduction of deeper wrinkles. If the Pearl Laser is used alone there is less social downtime (usually just 3-4 days) than when Fractional laser treatment is performed.
Results: Treats the full face in a single treatment. Resurfaces the epidermis causing the upper layer to peel off and regenerate a layer of new, healthy skin. Adding Pearl Fractional Laser causes skin tightening, reduces signs of ageing, and stimulates collagen formation and plumping of the skin. Usually just one treatment is required (rather than the 4 to 6 treatments usually required with Fraxel® treatments). Your skin may look red for a 5 to 10 days whilst a new layer of healthy skin regenerates.
Problem: Redness, mottled complexion, sun damage, brown spots and freckles.
Candidates: Fair to olive skin types are best suited to this treatment. Patients should not be treated if they have had significant sun exposure (sun, solarium) or fake tan in the 4 weeks immediately prior to treatment.
Solution: The selective and specific heating of the pigmented cells causes a therapeutic effect. This treatment also offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with ageing and sun damage.
Results: Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and skin may appear slightly red and mildly swollen. This resolves over the next few hours and makeup can be applied to cover the redness. Within 1 — 3 weeks the darkened spots will flake off and fade leaving a rejuvenated skin appearance. Any diffuse redness will decrease and your complexion will improve. New spots and redness may appear with ongoing sun damage, but these too can be prevented or treated. One to 3 IPL laser skin (resurfacing) treatments at our Melbourne skin centre are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be necessary for very large or dark spots, densely freckled areas or excessively sun-damaged skin.
Problem: Redness, facial and leg veins.
Candidates: Fair to olive skin types (patients without dark pigment in their skin). Patients should be treated with caution if they have had significant sun exposure (sun, solarium) or fake tan in the four weeks immediately prior to treatment.
Solution: Treatment targets the red pigment in red blood cells within abnormal capillaries and sun damage which are on the skin surface. The light from the machine is absorbed by the abnormal red pigment which results in destruction of these blemishes.
Results: This procedure is ideal for the face, neck and decolletage and can require one to three treatments for a complete result. Although some blemishes may reappear with further sun damage, they too can be treated.
Here are some common questions our patients ask during their consultation.
How do lasers work?
In straight forward terms, lasers and IPL therapies are devices that produce short bursts of intense light, which are directed to the problems within the treated areas. The light from a laser consists of one or more wavelengths which can be used to target different problems in the skin including sun damage, excess hair shafts deep in the dermis, burst blood vessels and discolourations on the skin surface. Specific combinations of wavelength, power, pulse duration and spot size are selected to target these different areas and produce the desired result.
The laser light penetrates only to a maximum of one millimetre beneath the skin surface, so it cannot damage the other organs of the body. The exception is the eye, if unprotected could be injured; hence special goggles or eye shields are used whenever the laser is in operation to protect the eye. The laser does not produce any rays known to be harmful, for example X-rays, UV rays, gamma rays, etc. There is no reason to expect any risk of developing skin cancer in treated areas.
Are there any side effects?
The side effects are minimal and vary according to the treatment. Some redness and swelling are expected for a few hours following treatment. With stronger treatments, there may also be some flaking and peeling similar to sunburn which resolves over a few days.
How many treatments do I need?
Although a single treatment can produce very good results, treatments spaced a month apart are usually recommended to produce more dramatic improvements. The number of treatments needed varies according to the particular concern, the level of sun damage and the type of laser treatment.
